How do other treatments compare to Harmony IPL and AFT Photorejuvenation?

How do Anti Wrinkle & Dermal Fillers work?

Many facial wrinkles occur when we use our muscles to make repeated facial expressions. Antiwrinkle injections can be used to relax specific facial muscles that cause expression lines. Once the muscles are relaxed, you cannot contract them and continue to make the undesirable facial expressions. Thus, the lines gradually smooth and new lines are prevented from forming.

The dose recommended for the treatment of frown lines will vary depending on your individual situation and the severity of your frown lines. Following your initial consultation we will know what the best dose is for you and which muscles to inject to give you the best results.

How long does it last?

The effect can last up to 4 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeat treatments, the effect tends to last longer.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers create volume for the treatment of lips, wrinkles and facial folds. The results are immediate. The fillers used at 'Lase by the sea' are biocompatible, non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, non-inflammatory, non-toxic, non-animal, stable after injection, non-migratory, long lasting but resorbable, natural looking and not too expensive.

Dermal fillers last up to one year, depending on the area being treated, the depth of the lines, the condition of the skin and the lifestyle of the individual. Most people return at 6 - 9 months for a top up.

How long do the treatments take?

The treatment generally takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes. An anaesthetic cream is applied for 20 minutes prior to commencement with the addition of a dental block if the client prefers.

What are the side effects?

The side effects of dermal filler lip augmentation treatments may include swelling, redness and occasional bruising. Other side effects may include minor lumps, itching or tenderness, which usually pass quickly.

Is it toxic?

Our treatments are safe because the products we use contain no animal proteins, allergens or chemicals.

What will I look like if I decide against further treatment? Will I be more Wrinkled?

The skin will return to its original state prior to treatment if you decide against further treatments.

Can I go straight back to work after treatment?

Yes, but for a first treatment it is probably better to schedule your appointment for the end of the day and preferably the end of the week.

Benefit Peel

This intense formulation is designed to penetrate excess oil to correct skin conditions such as acne and enlarged pores. The unique blend of acids in Purity Peel clears the skin of blemishes and heals acne lesions, reduces inflammation and exfoliates the skin to reveal a glowing, dewy complexion.

Tattoos result from pigments inserted into the skin. These pigments (colours) form various shaped constructions of pigment molecules too large to pass through the cell membranes. They stay trapped inside the skin for many years. In the last 10 years, Q-Switched lasers have been shown to be very effective at removing tattoos. Q-Switched lasers deliver very high power but very short pulses of laser light, which pass through the skin and break up the particles of tattoo pigment. When the particles are small enough to pass through the cell membrane, they are then treated by the cytoplasm as waste, driven out of the cell and dissolved in the blood stream. It is important to remember that the body tries to remove even untreated tattoos, that's why tattoos normally fade over time. Q-Switched laser treatments make the pigment particles small enough to be removed much more quickly. Multiple treatments given about a month apart are necessary for best results.

Scarring is uncommon leaving a normal to near normal skin appearance, occasionally mild changes in skin texture may occur. Fading of the tattoos is usually visible about 2 weeks after treatment.

Amateur tattoos generally require fewer treatments as compared to those professionally done due to the higher concentration of pigment and the deeper the penetration of the ink in professional tattoos. In addition, darker colours like blue or black respond better to the laser due to higher light absorption than lighter colours such as yellow and green which do not absorb the laser light as well.

What are the possible side effects?

There are minimal side effects to tattoo removal by Q-Switch lasers. However, you should consider these factors in your decision:

• Infection at the site
• Hypopigmentation where the treated skin is paler than surrounding skin
• Hyperpigmentation where the treated skin is darker than surrounding skin
• Scarring is very low, between 7 to 14 percent.

Microdermabrasion

Lase by the Sea offers the newest way of exfoliating the epidermis (outermost layer of the skin) with its advanced, closed system design. It incorporates a hygienic diamond tip hand piece together with a vacuum system for collecting skin debris. Microdermabrasion is a process for the removal of dead skin cells from the epidermis cleaning out blocked pores and enhancing skin tone. In the mid 90's, the crystal microdermabrasion peel process using aluminium oxide crystal was developed. This technology proved effective but has some disadvantages:

• Aluminium oxide crystal could be left embedded in the skin and suspended in the air of the treatment room.
• Substantial amounts of powders requiring appropriate disposal.
• Crystal residue is left in the hair, ears and cloths of both the patient and clinician.

Fat dissolve treatments are an innovative alternative to liposuction that involves a simple series of medicated injections which dissolve unwanted small localized areas of fat. Fat-related problems that proponents of dissolving treatments claim can be treated include:

• Upper and lower abdomen
• Thighs
• Upper arms
• Saddlebags
• Fat pads under the eyes or chin
• cellulite
• Stretch marks
• Scars
• Residual fat deposits post-liposuction

In addition to possible small areas of fat-loss and cellulite reduction, the treatment may improve skin tone, elasticity, increase collagen production that is impeded through the natural aging process and even reduce stretch-marks. However, this treatment does not stop the aging process. Fat can appear again throughout your lifetime.

When Fat Dissolving treatments May Not Be Appropriate

These treatments should not be used for pregnant women, nursing mothers, obese patients; or people with diabetes, autoimmune diseases, vascular complications, or infections of any kind. It is important to note that this is not an appropriate treatment for large areas of fat. In addition, it is recommended that any one contemplating fat dissolving treatment should also maintain a proper diet and have a regular exercise program.

What is Sclerotherapy

Many women are bothered by small clusters of red, blue or purple veins, often called 'spider veins'. These most commonly appear on the thighs, calves and ankles. Sclerotherapy is a rather simple procedure where veins are injected with a sclerosing solution, which causes them to collapse and fade from view.

What to Expect From Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy can enhance your appearance and your self confidence, but it is not realistic to believe that every affected vein will disappear completely as a result of treatment. After each sclerotherapy session, the veins will appear lighter. Two or more sessions are usually required to achieve optimal results.
